This piece is part of my blue period series.
Featured are hot pink flowers with green leaves and a turquoise diamond against a navy background. The hot pink really stands out! This is for the type of client who likes old world designs such as wrought iron fences, intricate border designs, delicate nuances, but with a bold splash of modern color!
In color symbolism and psychology, navy blue is a conservative color (think suits and corporate America, keeping your nose to the grind-stone, stability, expertise), while hot pink is the color of passion, sensual love, anything but calming.
So the meaning of the two colors contrast.
Ornate has symbolic connotations of "fitting in with nature", "a proponent of the natural world" with its twisting brambles, vines and leaves. It can also be a symbol of "plenty" in terms of "the old Victorian" where...
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
