This red design only appears subdued because of its monochromatic color scheme. If it had more green in it, the red would appear much brighter. But the point of this piece is to convey the dignity of a fine oriental rug and at the same time to be floral with bright fuchsia flowers.
This piece was made for home décor, particularly pillows, duvets, blankets, wall hangings and shower curtains (which I carry in my shop), and tiles, rugs, table napkins and table cloths (which I presently do not carry in this shop, but may in the future).
If you are into old world types of interior design, then you can appreciate that this way of working for me adds to the continuation and tradition of that way of living and decorating.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
