This is the first piece I have tackled that features fantasy figures for home decor products: pillows, duvets, blankets, etc., perhaps with a matching print on the wall too.
In this piece, the firebirds are in a symmetrical format: they are upside down and right side up. From far away, the birds look like a big reddish-orange flower coming from the greenery. In this way they are a little more subtle than if they were the main focus.
Featured are firebirds in openings with greenery. They haven't burned the greenery, and perhaps are just passing through, and captured in flight in the openings. There is a diamond shape in the center of the design as well as a light green border full of swirls.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
