Art inspired by the Renaissance, Celtic knots, fantasy art, and storybooks. I create traditional paintings, digital art and photograph knights, fair maidens, fairies, bagpipers, flowers and a few meadows too.

Artist's Description

In this piece, a white rabbit takes refuge in some knotted tree roots for a nap. He is curled up while outside three doves and a butterfly flutter about. He is safe in his cage of tree branches, and even smiles a bit.
The sky is either sunrise or sunset, i.e. early morning or late afternoon. There are hills in the background.

SYMBOLISM:

* white rabbit: vulnerability, purity of intention, lucky, the feminine
* in knotted tree roots: sanctuary, self imposed imprisonment or safety, solitude, rest, less vulnerability, complex network of ideas, thoughts and dreams
* singular tree: tree of life, identity
* butterfly: transformation, metamorphosis
* doves: peace, devotion, sacrifice for a message, spirit

The original has sold. The long design looks great on a yoga mat.

About Lise Winne

Lise Winne

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
