My self inflicted assignment was to make an abstract design for home decor (like pillows) that would not look like it represented anything, but be striped and have waves too. So I came up with this: blobs tied together and attached to an ornate center. Like a lot of my work, the center is still detailed, but everything flowing abound it isn't. I am glad I put some yellow in this design and in the border to off-set the overwhelming purple.
I made this piece for home decor products like pillows, duvets, blankets and shower curtains (all available here in my shop). They might look good with a matching print on the wall too.

In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
