This is a photograph I took on a walk. The autumn maple leaves at the height of their color had fallen into some cedar bushes and I took the photograph where they lay (in other words, I didn't rearrange them).
I didn't think the photograph would amount to much because it was done quickly, without much thought ("Oh, those look pretty!", pull the shutter, and walk on), but when I got home I liked the contrast of the red and orange maple leaves with the cedar.
The photograph was taken in Saratoga County, NY, USA, in October.
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
