There are actually some meadows within the city of Saratoga Springs, NY. This one is quite large. Most people don't know about it because it sits behind a high white brick wall, as though it is an estate of some sort.

It was a kind of estate back in the 1800s. It overlooked a valley, and on clear days you can see rolling hills to the west. In this photograph, you have to go beyond these trees to see the view.

There used to be a hotel on the property surrounded by fields so that horses would not have to be boarded in a stable in town. They were free to roam around for miles and eat grass like this while their humans went about their business in the hotel and in the center of the little city, only one mile away.

Over the years, people didn't want to stay in a hotel on the outskirts of the town and there seemed to be no reason to since the automobile came into existence. The hot place to stay was at the Grand Union Hotel, very large, quite fancy, and smack in...

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
