Artist's Description

This is a collaborative piece, and a piece I made for one of Abbie Shores's "Edit This".

The challenge, and works by other artists can be seen here: https://fineartamerica.com/contests/edit-this-24.html?tab=overview

What I did with the challenge:

Originally the image was very long width-wise, so I scrunched it. As I did so, the clouds seemed to bunch up into storm clouds (originally, it was just an over-cast day). I accentuated the clouds a little and brightened up the landscape, and saturated the landscape with green (which is what I remember about Great Britain - it rains a lot there).

I really liked the landscape as it was, and I was not sure that it lended to my usual fantasy art.

I thought if there were going to be roiling gray clouds, I might as well put in a lightening bolt.

The picture seemed to be done. But I did try one more.

About Lise Winne

Lise Winne

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
