Artist's Description
Featured is a unicorn with fluffy white hair. He is in a heart with playing card symbols. Another gold border surrounds the heart.
Symbolism:
* unicorn: purity, innocence, spiritual messages, enlightenment, magic. The unicorn has been known to be an independent creature of high intelligence who swoons at the sight of a faire maiden who is pure of heart, and to even fall asleep in her lap. The unicorn's horn has been known to purify water. The unicorn was described during Renaissance times as an extremely wild woodland animal that could not be tamed.
* playing cards: rules, games, the elements (wind, fire, water, and earth), the seasons, the four motives (intimacy and love, making money and gathering, growing and learning, manipulation and strategy) and the struggle with various forms of opposition for victory.
* heart: love, connection, passion, unity
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
