In this piece I went for a gold background. I tried to keep it subtle and somewhat monochromatic, but with some glow like gold usually has.
Pictured is an espalier grafted plant with heart shaped leaves, somewhat white butterflies, some swirls, a red fern, and some unruly branches at the top. It has a white, gold and red border.
The inspiration for this piece is home decor.
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
