This piece evokes 1960s psychedelic posters. Reds and purples were used a lot then. The 1960s were also noted for paisleys.
This piece is mostly monochromatic: the reds and oranges predominate. Purple is the only color that cools it down, but only a little. Everything glows a bit which helps sustain the fiery mood of the piece.
Reds are typically symbolic of passions. Since orange and purple are also in the piece, and seen in fire, one cannot help but associate this piece with fire.
This piece can either be hung on the wall (even as hippie meditation art) or be printed on pillows, bedspreads, wall hangings (tapestries) and the like. Most people use these square designs of mine for home decor.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
