This photograph was taken in upstate New York in Washington County in midsummer.

In this photo, six cows gather around a pond. Three cows are brown, and three cows are black ... Three of them are actually in the pond. It was a hot day, and the cows are cooling off.

Farming with fantastic views is what Washington County is about. In some instances, the land looks like Switzerland. In this piece there are no views, but you can tell that it is hilly. In other parts of the county where the view is towards the east, you can see the Green Mountains which are part of Vermont.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
