Striped Green Abstract Flower Shape on a Green Background Art Print

After I had made several abstract symmetrical designs, I wanted to try one with stripes in it, and one that didn't look too much like a flower, but would have an odd reference to one. This is the result.

This is a monochromatic design with colors that are very close to each other on the color wheel (analogous colors). This means that one color does not stand out, and because these colors are more on the cool scale than on the warm scale, they tend to calm rather than excite. Either way, they are earth colors: the turquoise represents the sea, and the green represents plant growth, summer and life.

Symbolically, stripes tend to represent either rebelliousness or multi-tasking. Stripes also appeared during the Industrial age in a big way, so they are associated with modernity.

In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums.
