After I had made several abstract symmetrical designs, I wanted to try one with stripes in it, and one that didn't look too much like a flower, but would have an odd reference to one. This is the result.
This is a monochromatic design with colors that are very close to each other on the color wheel (analogous colors). This means that one color does not stand out, and because these colors are more on the cool scale than on the warm scale, they tend to calm rather than excite. Either way, they are earth colors: the turquoise represents the sea, and the green represents plant growth, summer and life.
Symbolically, stripes tend to represent either rebelliousness or multi-tasking. Stripes also appeared during the Industrial age in a big way, so they are associated with modernity.
I made this piece specifically for home or office décor: pillows, maybe a blanket or duvet, and/or a matching print on the wall. Since I have other colors in this design, you can mix and match, especially for long sofas or rooms with a lot of seating (I have a purely black and white one in my shop, as well as ones with more colors).
The design might also go well in an office that promotes creativity or a product with a creative edge. Or a place where kids and grown ups congregate. My advice would be to choose cool colors (greens, blues and periwinkles) for a calming effect, or warm colors (reds, pinks, oranges and yellows) to excite, or have fun.
Pillows, blankets, duvets and shower curtains will not have my signature. Most other products and prints will.
This design is my own original art.
