Description
My motivation for this piece was to paint something that was reminiscent of detailed Renaissance tapestries, but feature only one creature (and a non-controversial one that many people could relate to). I added some digital features to come up with this version in more rustic colors than the first version: mustard, sepia, rust colors, oranges, apple green, dark red, and blue green (kale color), colors reminiscent of autumn.
You can view the first version here (more summer-like):
Butterflies symbolize transformation, healing, freedom and change. Flowers and weeds symbolize a respect for nature and abundance.
If you live in an environment that is stark, boxy and rectangular, without many curves, or windows, this kind of piece can transform the environment. Imagine this piece in a hospital room or hallway, for instance.
