"Greeting the Moon" is a photo illustration using the Marcus Charles Illion carousel horses. One horse's head sits on top of another horses head, a kind of totem effect. Indeed, I could have just used the one white horse, but the double heads made this work a lot more interesting (to me). Quirky, weird, fun, unexpected: that was my intention.
This is a work from 2013.
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
