Artist's Description
This is a fantasy art piece, and one of a series I have been working on with unicorns.
Featured is a unicorn sitting in Renaissance style, with butterflies, a lush unruly garden full of flowers and weeds, and fairy orbs or stars (you decide).
Unicorns are magical creatures, known to attract fair maidens who have a good heart. They are solitary creatures who purify water with their horns, and are known for their high intelligence. They cannot be tamed or ruled and it is unwise to try.
This piece is available as a print, tapestry (sort of what it was made for), duvet cover, pillows, tote bags and a variety of other products. It might be what your sleepy girl wants for her bedroom and to inspire her to dream big.
This is a digital art piece made from a ceramic sculpture of a unicorn (my own sculpture and unicorn design), and a drawing.
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
