Artist's Description
This a variation on a theme I started with unicorns.
Featured are the unicorn (in Renaissance tradition) sitting peacefully in the grass, butterflies, glowing night orbs, flowers and unruly garden all on a black background.
I wanted to try to make more Gothic types of designs using black and white, so I tried my hand at this one first.
This piece can be used for a tapestry, pillow, bedspread (or duvet) or even for the wall - all available on this site for purchase.
This piece was made with a number of digital techniques. The unicorn comes from a pottery piece I made (the unicorn is my own design), and the garden originally came from a drawing. Other elements were added to make it mysterious and magical.
About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
