Description
I went walking on state land into the forest and was looking down a steep bank and saw this scene, perfectly framed by the two trees in front of me. The forest floor had some newly fallen leaves of yellow, which contrasted with the reds and brown around me. It was as though the yellow leaves were dumped in front of me.
This was taken in October 2020 in upstate NY in Saratoga County. The Covid-19 pandemic was roaring through New York State, but you wouldn't notice it being in woods like this away from people and civilization. The birds were singing, the squirrels were gathering nus, and life went on a usual (for them).
Nature is definitely the big get-away when people can't get along, when there is rancor in the community or nation, when you want to enjoy being somewhere without a mask on, when you want to forget about a pandemic (or some other event). This is where the peace is the greatest.
