Art inspired by the Renaissance, Celtic knots, fantasy art, and storybooks. I create traditional paintings, digital art and photograph knights, fair maidens, fairies, bagpipers, flowers and a few meadows too.

Artist's Description

In a meadow is a dance going on from two separate worlds: the modern world and the old world of the Medieval and Renaissance.
I kept the sepia tones for the old world and full color for the modern world. The old world dominates in this piece. A family with two children gather up on the hill.

symbolism:
* dance: a change in mentality, joy, excitement, can also mean worship or ritual depending on the culture
* folk dance: tradition, culture
* sepia: retro
* modern day with olden days: contrast, two separate worlds, juxtaposition, knowledge

I am a firm believer that the art we are attracted to (or make) is speaking to us in terms of our autobiography: either how we see ourselves, what we are experiencing, or what we want to embody, or if it is a gift, how we see the other person.

About Lise Winne

Lise Winne

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...
