Stop Abuse Baby Onesie

This was originally designed to be a poster for child abuse awareness month. "Stop Abuse", "Stop Child Abuse" are what it is meant for.

The writing on the poster portrays a little girl who is bullied by her parents (yes, they do exist). She is the scapegoat (gang bullied by members of her family). She "walks on eggshells" around her family member's rages, she has low grades and can't concentrate in school (signs), her heart hurts, she feels as though she is a "nobody" and unloved, she is being taught to believe in all insults about herself (called "grooming"). She is also intensely sad and thinks about suicide.

Child abuse is a serious societal ill. Signs of child abuse are: neglect, verbal abuse (insults and name-calling), erroneous blaming, the silent treatment, being excluded from family events (isolation), scapegoating, being expected to compete with siblings for love and attention, goading and taunting, gaslighting, grooming and normalizing (to accept abuse), retali...

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
