Art inspired by the Renaissance, Celtic knots, fantasy art, and storybooks. I create traditional paintings, digital art and photograph knights, fair maidens, fairies, bagpipers, flowers and a few meadows too.
This a porcelain vase I threw on the potter's wheel. It is decorated with a snowflake design done with a blue slip from a recipe (i.e. not from standard slips). I fluted the top, so that the colorful bouquet could drape around the lip and so the design of the vase would not distract from the flowers.
Then I took a snapshot of the largest snowflake from the vase and used it for the border design. One part of the snowflake is truncated (because the design is on a round surface, but it works, and wouldn't have worked with the vase if it had been flattened).
This design has sold as greeting cards since it came out, but I also thought it might work for the Christmas decor products available on this website (throw pillows, towels, totes).
Note: this design comes round, without a border, in the round beach towel design.
This piece is part of "The Bouquet Series". Many of the works are available on this website, or alternatively you can read about why I started the series from my blog: http://lisewinne.blogspot.com/2016/02/photo-bouquet-series.html
