The point of this piece was to create something monochromatic (reds) for home décor products (pillows, duvets, blankets and shower curtains - all available in my shop).
The color scheme for this piece looks like hippie colors, if on the feminine side. Certainly it evokes warmth and would seem to complement dark rooms.
Anyway, it is meant to be a purple on purple kind of piece.
The pink tubular shapes seem like candles from this perspective.
Reds and purples symbolically invoke both passion and spirituality. "Lake me take you to the massage parlor where you will hear transcendental music" (or something like that?). Or to the room where you read your Tarot cards. Or maybe some pillows with this design are in back of two big dark maroon chairs in front of the fire at the fire place?

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums.
