This is a black and white drawing I created in a waiting room while a loved one was getting a medical procedure done. Since I can't set up my drawings like I do in my studio with references and pictures, I have to rely 100 percent on my imagination (well, I could draw the people in the waiting room, but I figure they are going through enough without me staring at them).

My imagination turned to playing card symbols this time. I usually make angels in such an environment, but because the procedure wasn't too serious, I decided on something silly, and this was the result.

The original is a 6" x 8" piece and created with India ink. I am working on the painted version of it, so the black and white version no longer exists. I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
