Artist's Description
So many of my millefleurs paintings feature an animal, or birds. This time I thought I would make a piece that just had millefleurs with a few butterflies, and nothing else. I hope you like the effect.
Millefleurs was used widely during the Renaissance, particularly for tapestry designs. The most well known are the unicorn tapestries. The artist, William Morris (1834 - 1896) liked the millefleurs of the Renaissance, and incorporated a semblance of it in his own designs. I can relate to his work, and his interests in design, and even his life, on many levels.
I sell duvets and pillows on this site, not just prints. Imagine this design and the variations of this design that I have uploaded on pillows and duvet covers. I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
