I made this piece with home decor in mind, particularly pillows which you can find in my shop, and something that might go in an old Victorian house with red oriental carpets. The design also, perhaps, hearkens back to the Renaissance times when rich reds were all of the rage.

Featured are lilies (with a singular pistil), daisies and a white flower from my imagination (resembling foxglove perhaps but with a long pistil). All of it is accompanied by leaves, swirls, several borders that define different areas, and a diamond center.

Some symbolism:

* white lilies: chosen for both weddings and funerals, rebirth or transformation of the soul, purity, innocence

* daisies: new beginnings, innocence and purity (similar to the meaning of lilies)

* foxglove: the ability to both hurt and heal, magic, ambition, creativity

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
