I originally made this piece for home decor (and it can go on typical home decor items like pillows), but it also seemed reminiscent of a fire ball with streaming blue turquoise emanating from it when I got all done with it. Even diamonds come from coal (the piece has lots of white diamond shapes in the core of it).
Anyway, I have been creating a fair number of "fire artwork" pieces in this year of Covid-19, unprecedented wildfires in the west, fiery politics with fiery rhetoric in this election year, and so many unexpected and out-of-the-ordinary events.
My fire works have included a self portrait, firebird and phoenix art works, and an abstract collection of art works (unusual for me) which seem to be about fire too.
The turquoise in this piece cools down the composition a little, but not much.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
