For this piece I was trying to create something in lilac and purple, and through a number of steps, I discovered I could have this blue-gray circle in the center too. I thought that added quite a bit since the outside border was turquoise. Before that surprise, it was looking fairly two-toned and leaning heavily towards warm colors. Of the series this is my favorite.
Depicted are tulips which don't exactly look like Spring-time tulips. They looked dried. The leaves are also turning yellow and brown. However, the background looks like one of those happy fall days when the temperature is high and more summer-like. It juxtaposes the autumn colors. In the center of the piece is an ornate diamond shape with swirls. The piece has some symmetry to it, typical of home decor lines such as pillows, duvets, tapestries and blankets, all available in my shop.

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
