Artist's Description
This piece is inspired by French folk art design. Featured are two different kinds of butterflies (one purple, the other light orange) with a plant that is all white and symmetrical except for some orange dots (seeds), pink flowers and yellow flowers.
The carved pottery that the plant sits in has a treble clef, fitting for a sonata. The background is a night blue and is part of my series of night paintings.
The original painting is for sale. It comes in a wide gold crackle frame (or without the frame if you so prefer: it is painted on panel). Shipping will cost extra. Contact me for details.

* pink flowers: gentleness, happiness, quiet love
* ceramic pottery: the 4 elements: earth, water, fire and air

About Lise Winne
I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12. In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio. My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece. I have shown my work in galleries and through juried shows at art centers and museums. Some notables include The Delaware Art Museum, Haverford Center of the Arts,...

As always, I love the color schemes of your work Lise, and this one is no exception, with its wonderful rich dark blues mixed with warm gold and pinks. It is just gorgeous. One of the reasons I love your work is because it borders on Celtic or later medieval styles, yet it actually seems to be something even more ancient and distant, as if from another civilization altogether. Wonderful creation.
Lise Winne replied:
Thanks, Robert! The inspiration actually came from French folk art this time. Again, thank you for your comment!
