"A Pawn Escapes" is part of a series having to do with chess (and hierarchy). The pawn in this case is a pampered unicorn with an elaborate copper collar and a red mantle, and he most likely belongs to a King or Queen. He is escaping. "Pawn" also refers to being or feeling used.
Since the unicorn has just "fled the coop", we don't know the outcome. We only know that he has the desire to escape. What he escapes is a lush garden (plenty of food), but the promise of more...

I have a bachelor's degree in Studio Art and a masters degree in Art Education. I used to be an art teacher and taught grades K - 12.
In order to teach art in the public schools, I needed to learn a lot of mediums. I have carried this into my art studio as well, painting in one area of the studio and making altered digital photographs in another part of the studio.
My primary mediums are painting, drawing, digital art, illustrations, cartoons, hand thrown pottery and relief sculpture. If you see pottery in my photographic work, it is my own hand-thrown piece.
